A.  Fair Housing Guidelines

The following information is consistent with the Fair Housing Guidelines format as established by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines:

Complaint referral system process  CNH has enacted a complaint referral system to the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, HUD, or the Grand Rapids Fair Housing Center.  A copy of any complaints received will be sent to our CD specialist at MSHDA.  Complaints and training efforts are recorded in a Fair Housing Log to track date and type of issues, the person who raised the concern, and how the concern was resolved.  The Fair Housing Policy is displayed on the public bulletin board in the office entryway and fair housing logos are displayed on program information.

 

Local system of record keeping on fair housing issues  Log is kept

 including:  date, type of issue, who raised the concern and how it was resolved.  Written discrimination complaints received by program applicants or contractors will be forwarded to the CNH Family Selection Committee, CNH Executive Committee and/or CNH Board of Directors.  The CNH Director will prepare a written response to the complaint that will be sent within 10 days of the receipt of the initial complaint and followed up quickly to ensure the matter is resolved amiably.  The complaint would be considered using MSHDA, HUD, MDCR or any other applicable guidelines.

 

Fair housing information and materials provided by MSHDA are available for all area agencies and organizations.

 

Advertising and materials distributed by CNH show the fair housing logo.


B. Fair Housing Policy

 

NCCS Center for Nonprofit Housing (CNH) is committed to fair housing and will aggressively ensure that CNH housing developments comply fully with all state, federal and local fair housing laws.  CNH has appointed the Director as their fair housing contact person.  This person has an understanding of the Fair Housing Laws and will attend applicable training to remain informed.

 

CNH has established a Fair Housing Log.  The Fair Housing Log will be maintained by the Program Assistants and will disclose information regarding any and all fair housing concerns and their outcomes to the Executive Director & other parties as necessary.  Fair housing issues identified in the community, such as newspaper articles will be recorded in the log.  Persons wishing to file a housing related complaint or concern will be referred to the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, HUD, and their local Fair housing Center.  Persons wishing to file a complaint or concern that is employment related will be referred to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.  The CNH Program Assistants will notify MSHDA is a complaint is filed.

 

CNH offices are accessible and barrier free.  CNH will make every attempt to reasonably accommodate all participants.

 

CNH includes Fair Housing Logo on all documents and advertisements.  CNH will post a Fair Housing poster in a place visible to the public.  CNH will secure and distribute Fair Housing material provided by MSHDA and various other Fair Housing agencies and organizations.  "Fair Housing.  It's Your Right" brochures will be distributed to all applicants.

 

CNH considers all applicants and contractors based on qualifications.  No applicant or contractor will be denied housing or a contract based on their race, color, origin, religion, age, sex, marital status, familial status and handicap.  Persons raising concerns regarding discrimination will not be retaliated against.  CNH requests that both minority and women apply for assistance through the single family and emergency assistance programs.

 

CNH is committed to affirmative marketing and will identify their fair housing needs and barriers.  CNH will address these needs and barriers by establishing a plan to resolve and meet fair housing needs.
